Guilin set to be the International Tourism Destination
China has revealed a plan of the construction and development of Guilin international tourism destination, in an effort to boost the city's economic growth. By 2020, the plan will be basically completed, and Guilin will become an important platform of world-class landscape tourism and leisure holiday destination.
A Press Conference of Guilin International Tourism Destination Construction was held in the State Council Information Office on March 26, 2013. Special policies will be applied to support Guilin's development and benefit residents' life as well.
In November 2012, approved by the State Council, National Development and Reform Committee has granted approval to "Guilin International Tourist Destination Construction and Development Plan". So far, the NDRC has endorsed Hainan and Yunnan provinces as well as Guilin as three reform pilot areas. Guilin is the first prefecture-level city all over the country that will be developed into an international tourism attration based on the national strategy.
Guilin is a world-famous scenic city for its picturesque Li River, spectacular Longji Rice Terraces, colorful ethnic culture and much more. In 2012, Guilin has received 1.9 million overseas tourists, up by 11 percent over the previous year. The city's goal is to become a worldwide sightseeing and resort attraction and a platform for international tourism cooperation and cultural exchanges.
