The Guilin-Sanjiang highway, linking Guilin City and Sanjiang Dong Autonomous County in Liuzhou City, was opened to traffic from October 26, 2017.

This 135 kilometers highway was built through mountainous area; and verdant forest, valleys, rivers, terraced fields and remote villages can be see on both sides. With roadbed of 26 meters wide in asphalt concrete, there can accommodate 4 two-way lanes. It is designed with speed limit of 100 km/h.

Thanks to the newly-opened highway, popular tourist destinations are well-connected now; and it is expected to play a positive role in promoting tourism.

Longsheng
Longji Rice Terraces area in Longsheng County, about 90 km from Guilin city, is well-known for its spectacular terraced paddies fields and local ethnic culture of Zhuang & Yao mountain tribes. From Guilin, there is just 1.5-hour drive via expressways to reach Longji Rice Terraces area, instead of 2.5-hour moving on the regular road.

Sanjiang
The well-renowned Chengyang Wind and Rain Bridge is located in Sanjiang County, about 168 km northwest of Guilin. This journey passes through beautiful terraced rice fields, rolling mountains and ethnic villages. Via highway, the driving time will be shorten from 4 hours to 2 hours from Guilin to Sanjiang.
