Guilin has a water system called “Two Rivers and Four Lakes” at downtown. The river/lake banks were restored, paved, decorated with, pagodas, bridges, sculptures,  trees and flowers. To stroll along is a wonderful experience to know about the town and local people's life.

Therefore, if your hotel is located by these rivers and lakes like 4-star Bravo Hotel, Park Hotel, 5-star Lijiang Waterfall Hotel and Sheraton Guilin, it will be more convenient to walk around the city downtown and enjoy the beautiful sceneries of  the rivers / lakes. On the other hand, Guilin is rather small compared with big cities like Beijing and Shanghai. If you stay at other hotels, it is also easy to visit the city downtown.
