Cycling Info around Guilin Areas

If you are planning a 1-2 week trip to see the southern highlights of China, cycling around Guilin is definitely your best choice. The scenery in Guizhou, Guangxi is similar but Guilin’s is outstanding.

Guilin is only a small city in China, 1 hour is quite enough to cycle from the south entry (the national road of (G321) to the north one (G322), the key exit to the western part is the road to the airport, riders will find turnings to the northwest (Longsheng terrace field, etc. ) Local bicycle fans in Guilin usually choose the way out for the eastern routes from the Guilin University of Electronic Technology (same direction of Yaoshan Mountain) when they want to do some country road biking to the northeast, or choose the road from Guilin to Zujiang/Mopanshan pier for journeys to the southeastern parts around Guilin (Daxu, Gongcheng, etc.)

Cycling through the national road of G321 (between Longsheng, Guilin and Yangshuo) or G322 (between Guilin and Xing’an) or some popular provincial roads is the least desirable thing to do; the roads are of a great possibility to be jammed and with too much vehicle exhaust, accidents, and the scenery riders will enjoy is so poor! We are always joking that every time when we biking out, the road is on rebuilding and one breaks when the other is completed.

Guilin Cycling Maps

However, there are still many less travelled routes hidden in and around Guilin. Cyclists will be more closer to the nature and cam keep away from the secular world. Those destinations are less popular by common travel groups and the people there are simpler (e.g. the Luojing town and Golden Peasant River Reservoir). Dirt roads, country roads roughly paved, macadam, farm track, broken cement roads/ asphalt roads, together with other roads on perfect condition can be found when we bike to those areas.

Cycling into the mountain areas of Guilin without a local guide is risky. Riders may find dozens of turnings and might easily lost the way. The bike climbing for many long-distance and roughly paved off roads between villages is such a challenging program that only well-trained riders with proper bikes could done that. Although we did not put those routes into the catalog, you are welcomed for those adventures with our guides individually.
